Into The Gorge

Day Three
Into The Gorge
Portland, OR to Carson, WA
61 miles
The Columbia Gorge from Cape Horn

Today's scenery was spectacular as the route headed into the Columbia Gorge east of Portland.  After riding along the river and Portland Airport on a great bike trail, I crossed over into Washington to avoid the traffic.

While I appreciated the fact that they put a bike lane on the bridge to Washington, I question why they put it square in the middle?  During rush hour the noise was deafening, but the ride was fully safe!

Scenic vistas were the order of the day, and made the sweltering heat almost tolerable.  It was another 90 degree plus day, and despite leaving at 6:30 in the morning, the sun and heat baked once again.  The forecast ahead is hotter, so I am looking to take day or two off and explore options.
