Down To Fergus Falls

Cormorant, MN to Fergus Falls, MN
41 miles
1,089 feet ascent
1,261 feet descent
1,743 calories

While, technically it was "down" to Fergus Falls from Cormorant, it took nearly eleven hundred feet of climbing to get there.  I've only been to Minnesota twice before, but I don't recall lots of hills?  Since it was a short 41 miles today, they were tolerable though.  And, they provided some scenic views.

Although it's been nearly perfect weather these two days in MN, I can tell the winter is tough by the pile of firewood this fellow had stacked up in his yard.  He's still got a few more logs to split, but it's quite impressive!

A lesson in "Minnesota speak": here it is not a "Passing Lane" but a "Bypass Lane".

Lastly, it appears that the good folks of Otter Tail County have taken it upon themselves to nominate me for their new sheriff!

Tomorrow will be a rest day, so I will take in the sights around Fergus Falls, and then ride the Minnesota Central Lakes Trail Saturday.  It is one of several converted railways in Minnesota converted to bike paths.

  1. You should run for the office in case you need a job when this saga is over!

  2. The converted rail beds are much flatter and were specifically designed for recumbent use. Road bikes are allowed, but you can never look as cool as someone on a bent with a flag attached to the back. :)
